“Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”

— John Adams, 1814

Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, or independent, it's easy to look around right now and feel like the damage to American democracy is irreparable — and that there is nothing you could do to change it anyway.

Hope isn't a feeling you wait for. It's the confidence that comes from knowing there are a few things we can do, together.

This book identifies eleven practical fixes we can make to restore how government works for all of us. No placing blame; no taking sides; no political manifesto; no silver bullets. Just a better understanding of how and why our institutions are crumbling and some unique ideas for how we can change the incentives, structures, and balance of power to once again restore our faith in democracy.
